| dsi's Material Management group encompasses the total supply chain effort. The Material Management group directs the procurement of materials, supplies and equipment at favorable costs consistent with customers' schedules and specifications. They are responsible for materials control functions including receiving, inventory control, materials storage / disbursement, and shipping. dsi's Material Management group develops plans to meet forecasts and maintain inventory levels, investigates and recommends suppliers, and recommends purchases through supplier partnership arrangements. dsi works with suppliers to reduce inventory and transportation costs by optimizing the relationship among quantity, on-time delivery, price, stocking levels, lead time, and quality. The Material Management group strives to enhance inventory and working capital management through reduced cycle times and inventory levels, and establishes strategic direction for the supply chain. |
